Advertise with MarketBrief
Who reads MarketBrief, what is available commercially, and what is not for sale.
MarketBrief reaches people making commercial decisions in African markets: founders, finance and operations staff, professional advisers and investors. The reference layer in particular attracts readers at the point of a purchase or filing decision, which is usually the audience an advertiser is actually trying to reach.
To discuss a placement, write to editor@marketbrief.africa with Advertising in the subject.
What is available
- Newsletter placement. A clearly marked slot in The Brief.
- Sponsored content. Your own words, labelled Paid content above the headline. You write it or we write it to your brief; either way it carries the label.
- Section sponsorship. Association with a section over a defined period.
What is not for sale
Stated here rather than discovered later in a negotiation:
- Editorial conclusions, and editorial recommendations.
- Inclusion in editors' picks or the newsletter's editorial selections.
- Removal, amendment or delay of unrelated coverage.
- Advance sight of editorial coverage that mentions you.
- Absence of the paid label.
The full policy is on the how we make money page, and it applies to every arrangement without exception.
Rates and audience figures
Both are shared on request rather than published. Rates depend on placement, duration and production, and audience figures move, so a page like this is the wrong place for either: a published figure is out of date within weeks and a rate card invites a negotiation about the card rather than about the campaign.
Ask and we will send current figures with the methodology behind them, which is the same standard we hold our own data journalism to.
What we ask of advertisers
- Claims in your copy must be accurate. We will query anything we cannot substantiate, and we will not run it unchanged.
- No creative designed to resemble editorial, and no false urgency.
- Regulated products carry the disclosures their regulator requires.
