Privacy policy
What data MarketBrief collects, why, and how to have it removed.
This page describes what we collect and why. It is written to be read rather than to be technically unfalsifiable.
What we collect
- If you subscribe: your email address, and the page you subscribed from. The second is so we know which prompts work.
- If you create an account: your email address, and any name you choose to give.
- When you read: aggregate analytics about pages viewed, referrer and approximate country. We use this to decide what to publish next.
- Email engagement: whether a newsletter was opened or a link clicked, so we can tell whether an edition was useful.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your email address or personal data.
- We do not ask for information we have no use for.
- We do not require an account to read the site.
Storage set on your device is listed separately on the cookie policy page.
Processors
Running a publication means using third-party services, and those services necessarily process some data on our behalf: our publishing platform and its hosting, our email delivery provider, and our analytics provider. Each is used for the purpose described above.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email using the link in it. It works in one click.
- Deletion. Email editor@marketbrief.africa and we will delete your subscriber record.
- Access. Ask what we hold about you at editor@marketbrief.africa.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will move and, where the change affects subscribers, we will say so in the newsletter.
