Cookie policy

Which cookies MarketBrief sets, what each is for, and how to refuse them.

This page lists what is stored on your device and why. Our broader data practices are on the privacy page.

What we set

  • Sign-in session. Set when you sign in as a member, so you stay signed in between visits. Removing it signs you out.
  • Theme preference. Stores whether you chose the dark theme. It never leaves your browser and is not sent to us.
  • Analytics. Aggregate measurement of which pages are read, so we can decide what to publish next. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to target advertising at you.

What we do not set

  • Cross-site advertising trackers.
  • Cookies that follow you to other websites.
  • Anything that sells your browsing history.

Third parties

Two services necessarily set their own storage when you use them: our publishing platform's membership component, when you sign in or subscribe, and our analytics provider. Embedded content from another site, for example a video, may set its own cookies when you play it.

Refusing them

Every browser can block or delete cookies for a single site, and the site remains readable with them blocked. Two consequences worth knowing: you will not be able to stay signed in as a member, and your theme choice will not persist between visits.
